Lifting  Accessories Inspection

Lifting gears refers to loose lifting accessories and attachments used to connect, lift, lower, suspend or secure loads during lifting operations. It is commonly used with cranes, hoists, forklifts, gantry cranes and other lifting equipment across construction, oil and gas, marine, manufacturing, logistics and industrial sites.

Regular inspection of lifting gear is essential to confirm that each item is safe, properly identified, suitable for use and free from visible defects such as wear, corrosion, deformation, cracks, cuts, broken wires, damaged stitching or unclear markings.

Wire Rope Slings

Chain Slings

Chain slings are alloy steel lifting slings used for heavy-duty lifting, especially where high strength and durability are required. Inspection checks chain links, hooks, master links, connectors, markings, elongation, wear, cracks, corrosion and deformation.

Hooks and Fittings

Hooks and related fittings are used to connect lifting accessories and loads securely. Inspection checks throat opening, latch condition, wear, cracks, distortion, corrosion, markings and the general condition of all associated fittings.

Webbing Slings

Webbing slings are flat synthetic slings used where load surface protection is important. Inspection checks cuts, abrasion, worn edges, stitching, heat or chemical damage, protective sleeves and identification labels.

Shackles

Shackles are connection components used to join slings, hooks and lifting points. Inspection checks the body, pin, threads, markings, cracks, wear, corrosion, deformation and correct fitment of the pin.

Eye Bolts

Eye bolts are threaded lifting points fitted to equipment or loads for lifting purposes. Inspection checks the eye, shoulder, threads, markings, bending, cracks, corrosion, deformation and suitability for the intended lifting direction.

Rigging Screws (Turn Buckles)

Open Wedge Sockets

Open wedge sockets are end terminations commonly used with wire ropes. Inspection checks socket body, wedge seating, pin condition, alignment, wire rope termination, corrosion, wear and visible damage to ensure secure rope anchorage.

Rings

Rings are load-bearing connecting components used in lifting and rigging assemblies. Inspection checks shape, wear, cracks, corrosion, distortion, markings and overall condition to ensure safe load transfer.

Swivels

Swivels are used to allow rotation and reduce twisting in lifting arrangements. Inspection checks free movement, wear, cracks, deformation, corrosion, pins, threads and markings to ensure safe and reliable performance.

Links

Links are connecting components used in sling assemblies and other lifting arrangements. Inspection checks wear, elongation, cracks, corrosion, deformation, markings and correct assembly.

Plate Clamps

Plate clamps are used for lifting steel plates and similar materials. Inspection checks the clamp body, jaw, cam, teeth, locking mechanism, pins, markings, cracks, wear and proper operation to prevent load slip.

Beam Clamps

Beam clamps are used for attaching lifting devices to beams and structural members. Inspection checks body condition, threads, jaws, pins, locking parts, wear, deformation, cracks, corrosion and secure fitment.

Lifting Beams / Spreader Bars

Lifting beams and spreader bars are below-the-hook devices used to distribute loads and maintain lifting stability. Inspection checks the beam structure, welds, lifting lugs, connection points, markings, cracks, deformation, corrosion and unauthorized modifications.

Drum Lifter

Drum lifters are used for lifting and handling drums safely. Inspection checks gripping parts, locking arrangement, frame, welds, pins, markings, wear, cracks, corrosion and proper functioning.

Towing Assembly

Wire Ropes for Appliances

HMPE Ropes

HMPE ropes, such as Dyneema ropes, are high-strength synthetic ropes used in lifting and pulling applications. Inspection checks cuts, abrasion, broken fibres, heat damage, chemical damage, glazing, deformation, splices and identification to confirm the rope remains fit for use.
