Testing & Technical Services

Testing & Technical Services covers specialized inspection, testing and verification activities carried out on selected lifting, pulling, hoisting and load-bearing components. These services are required where normal visual inspection alone may not be sufficient to confirm strength, performance, functionality or safe operating condition.

IIB provides technical testing support for wire rope terminations, crane components, hook blocks, braking systems and other load-bearing equipment. These services help clients verify equipment performance, identify defects, confirm safe operation and maintain proper inspection records for site, marine, industrial and project requirements.

Wire Rope Socketing

Wire rope socketing is the process of preparing and securing wire rope end terminations using suitable sockets for lifting, pulling or hoisting applications. It is commonly used for cranes, winches, davits, marine equipment and other systems where wire rope termination strength is critical.

Testing and verification checks the wire rope condition, socket type, rope seating, alignment, termination arrangement, visible defects and overall suitability of the completed socketed assembly. Proper socketing helps ensure secure load transfer and reduces the risk of wire rope termination failure during operation.

Rocking Motion Test

Rocking motion testing is commonly performed on cranes to assess movement, clearance or wear in the slew bearing arrangement. It is especially important for cranes exposed to heavy lifting cycles, marine environments, offshore operations or continuous site use.

The test helps identify excessive play, abnormal movement, bearing wear or possible deterioration that may affect crane stability and safe operation. Results support maintenance planning and help determine whether further inspection, adjustment or corrective action is required.

Hook Block Proof Load Test

Hook block proof load testing is carried out to verify the load-bearing performance of crane hook blocks and associated components. Hook blocks are critical lifting assemblies used to connect loads to cranes, and failure of any component can result in serious lifting incidents.

Inspection and testing checks the hook, sheaves, pins, side plates, swivel, bearings, safety latch, markings and general condition before and after the test. Proof load testing helps confirm that the hook block can safely withstand the required test load and remains free from visible damage or deformation after testing.

Brake Test

Brake testing is carried out to verify the holding and functional performance of brakes fitted to cranes, winches, hoists, davits and similar lifting or pulling equipment. Brakes are critical safety components because they control, stop and hold the load during operation.

Testing helps confirm that the brake system is functioning correctly and can safely hold or control the applied load as required. Inspection may include checking brake response, holding performance, operational control, abnormal movement, slipping, wear, adjustment condition and visible defects.
